For our first project in Unit 2 students will be reintroduced to styrofoam plate printmaking, while adding the element of reduction. Students will explore the life and artwork of well-known artist Georgia O'Keeffe, and take inspiration from her many paintings. Students will design their own flower or plant in the enlarged style of O'Keeffe to carve into their printing plates. Students will use learned printmaking methods to create a series of prints, will carefully reducing the printing plate each time to vary the result. Students will make informed artistic decisions about how to complete their compositions for display.
