For our second project in Unit 1 students will study American artist realist artist, Edward Hopper. Students will critique Hopper's artistic style and analyze the emotions expressed throught his paintings, particularly "The House by the Railroad". Students will use this style along with elements of Victorian architecture to create a detailed line drawing of a "haunted house". For the background, students will learn how to create a monochromatic color scheme using tempera paints.
