For our first project in Unit 1 5th graders will be creating their own "logos"
taking inspiration from Illuminated Manuscripts of the Middle ages. Students
will discuss the origin of the illuminated manuscripts in the world's first
written books, the use of symbols in art, and the importance of art as its own
form of language. Students will apply learned drawing, coloring, and painting
techniques, as well as demonstrate creativity and craftsmanship.
**IMPORTANT**: This artwork will be
used for the Square 1 Art Fundraiser this year, which is due October
4th. So, if your child is absent from Art before the due date PLEASE
take advantage of Open Studio hours so that your child will have a
piece for the fundraiser.
