For our final Unit 4 project of the year, fifth graders will be exploring weaving techniques. Students will discuss the difference between nonfunctional art, such as drawings and paintings, and funtional art, such as a woven bag. Students will explore the style and use of weaving as a Native American craft as they learn key terms and skills to create their own loom, warp, and weft. Students will also apply knowledge of learned color schemes in choosing yarn for their weaving pattern.
