For our first project in Unit 2 students will be introduced to collograph printmaking. Students will build their own collograph printing plates using found objects. Students will use printmaking tools such as ink and brayers to create a series of prints. We will practice making artistic decisions to bring variety and harmony to a balanced composition.
For our next project we will be study the artistic style of Pablo Picasso, and create an abstract animal drawing. Students will practice contour line drawing for the outline of they animal of their choice. We will discuss different color schemes, including how to create tints and shades using colored pencils and watercolor paints. Students will apply new knowledge of color value and color schemese to complete the composition.
